theorizing

so basically i feel like damara is a member of the clown cult.

why? because aside from the obvious, outright mention of wanting to serve lord english/ the devil, she briefly talks about "the end of our time" which co-relates to my headcanon about what exactly it is the troll juggalo worships.

going off of a lot of gamzee's rambling (i don't have direct quotes) i figure it's something like a ~golden land~. "all life will be obliterated and the believers will be hoisted to heaven". something like that, where heaven is the dark carnival.

it's my headcanon that while there is a difference between a beforian and alternian juggalo's religion, it teaches and tells of the same exact thing: caliborn's journey, prettied up and warped and rewritten in the way all ancient religion is by modern day. for this reason i believe there were hints to sburb in the troll clown bible-- nothing outright stating it, but definitely hints devout followers like kurloz and gamzee could find and relate to the game they play with their friends. the main difference between the two renditions is that beforus' is prophecy while alternia's is a retelling.

there are a few nuances about the religion that are relevant to damara that i'm going to touch on. first of all, how it's explicitly mentioned that other castes find the primarily indigoblood religion kinda kooky. it's basically a club for that specific group of the caste, and no one else is invited. so i think while damara could and likely did worship in her life pre-sgrub, she was not overt about it. it was not a part of her lowblood culture the way it was for kurloz or gamzee. so she did not partake in church and she did not wear face paint-- all because she is a rustblood.

i believe damara may have practiced for a long time in her own quiet way, but i don't think she really felt it was going to happen where she could see it until lord english's ghost killing spree. i feel that this was very significant for damara to see because it sparked more of a devotion or deep interest in it-- she believed before, but this was proof it would actually happen.

so when she says to rufioh:

DAMARA: You will only delay the inevitable.
DAMARA: The end of our time is near.

she is talking about the end of everything. she is talking about the termination of all life. she does not believe in the promised land her religion talks about, or at least she doesn't mention it. but she definitely connects lord english to the cult's mirthful messiahs.

it is stated by aranea that damara was quiet before meenah's bullying. it is implied she does not bother with the other trolls much after the bullying, except to kill them in her time travelling during the session. in the afterlife, she is implied to only speak freely to rufioh. rufioh explicitly states that she talks enough about serving the "devil" (akuma) that if meenah found out, she would be angry. meenah, who definitely wants to kill lord english. so it's not a throwaway comment. attention is drawn specifically to this.

essencially: there's nothing in current canon to disprove damara's affiliation with the indigoblood clown religion, and quite a bit to support it!
